Jacob Chikumbiriki is in his early thirties and lives with his family in Seke-Chitungweza township, on the outskirts of Harare. Jacob comes from a family of six brothers, all of whom are stone carvers. Through training from older brothers, sharing of carving techniques, and the blessing of God-given talent, Jacob has become a master carver. In our estimation, he is one of the leading carvers of verdite and other hard stones in Zimbabwe. His artistry has taken him to many South African countries to do private and commercial commissioned works. When he is in South Africa doing these special assignments he often procures exceptional pieces of the rare and beautiful verdite stone, from the original verdite mines of the Baberton district of Transvaal. Often his skill in choosing pieces carries him to the only mine for verdite in Zimbabwe, the Concession Corundum mine. To own one of Jacob Chikumbiriki's masterpieces is a privilege, as well as an investment.
